Build resilience and improve your mental health through 1-2-1 and group counselling for children and adults
How I Help
Most people will experience difficult times and events at some point in their lives. When your resilience and mental health are challenged you might experience a variety of emotions, symptoms and behavioural issues. These are very common and I help clients every day to understand their feelings, to find their own solutions and to develop coping strategies to manage the day-to-day.
I commonly see issues such as; anxiety, low mood, stress, depression, self-harming, suicidal thoughts, ptsd, low self-esteem, low confidence, suicidal ideation, anger, grief, loss, bullying, fear, anticipatory grief, body image, abuse, domestic abuse, flashbacks, guilt, panic attacks, frustration, trust issues, abandonment and relationship problems.

Young Children & Teenagers
Young Children & Teenagers
Children struggle with a variety of issues.
1-2-1 sessions give them a space to talk confidentially. They learn to understand how they are feeling and develop coping strategies to help them manage issues more effectively.

Adults
Counselling offers you a confidential space to work through any issues you may be experiencing. As your counsellor I will support you in finding your own solutions and developing healthier ways for coping in life.

For Schools
More schools are providing counselling within school for their pupils. Better mental health can lead to better productivity within school.
1-2-1 sessions can provide the pupil with a safe and confidential space to discuss any issues.
The sessions can also support them in finding healthy coping strategies for managing their day-to-day.
Small groups of 5 or 6 pupils (Primary age) can also be offered 6 weeks of Building Self-Esteem [All About Me] or Reducing Anxiety (Worry Warriors].

For Business
Employers have an increasingly important role in the wellbeing and mental health of their staff.
Post pandemic, staff may have anxiety returning to work in an office, have experienced bereavement, on top of other challenges faced.
If you are a people professional, leader or business owner exploring what counselling support could look like for your organisation, do get in touch.
Whether 1-2-1 sessions or wider support, I work with a network of counsellors to cater to varying needs.

About
Helen
After studying Fashion Marketing at university, I spent over a decade in my early career in retail for household names. I credit managing teams of people with developing people skills, and supporting staff through many challenging life events. Helping others in this way turned out to be what I am passionate about. A turning point that led me to retrain and change direction.
I am now a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor with a BA in Counselling with over 9 years of experience. I work as an Integrative Practitioner to meet the needs of my clients.
I have experience of working with clients from 5 years old right through to adults with a broad range of issues. I also facilitate small group sessions for Primary aged clients within school with themes of self-esteem building, and with managing anxiety.

Professional & Ethical Standards
I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists) and I adhere to their ethical framework for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
This requires that I have clinical supervision every month with a qualified senior practitioner and ensures that I am professional, safe and that sessions are conducted in the best interests of my clients. My clinical practice and case load is discussed anonymously to maintain client confidentiality.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am,
then I can change.”

Teenage Client
“I just want to say a massive thank you for everything you have done for my daughter. I really think her talking to you about things that have happened at school and with her Dad has helped so much. Keep doing what you do.”
Parent of Primary Child
“Helen has become a valued member of our school team. She works closely with staff to identify children who may be in need of support with their emotional wellbeing. Helen takes the time to get to know the children, their challenges and their strengths. She explores the best ways in which to therapeutically work with some of our most vulnerable children and provides a bespoke experience for each child. In addition to this, Helen has also designed a wellbeing program for a group of children focused on raising their self esteem and self belief. The feedback from both children and parents has been entirely positive and staff have noticed positive changes in the children who have worked with Helen. Helen also offers advice to staff about signposting to other services and also how to safeguard their own wellbeing.
During recent times and the challenges presented by COVID19, Helen has continued to work with our school. She has offered support to our staff and continued to work virtually with children that she had previously been working with in school. Introducing new families to Helen’s services during these unusual times have proved beneficial in supporting the many needs we have been faced with in our community.
We can’t thank Helen enough for the care and attention that she affords our children.”
